We are all separate communities – what if we don’t agree on some of the overarching aspects of the Plan? Who gets final say?
Q. Why are you doing one plan for all of these places when they are all completely different from each other and need their own plans?
The Plan will operate at two levels: an overarching vision for the future of the local region, dealing with things that these communities have in common, and will also capture the specific needs and wishes of individual communities within the Kinglake Ranges, Flowerdale and Toolangi areas.
Separate consultations will be held with each community to ensure their wishes are captured.
Q. But there are separate communities within the Kinglake Ranges. How will the Plan capture this?
The Plan will take into account each of the separate townships within the Kinglake Ranges and will respond to local issues.
Community members will be encouraged to have their say about their aspirations for the region, but also about how they would like to see their township or local community develop. Each of these individual comments will be taken into account in developing the final Plan.
Q. We are all separate communities – what if we don’t agree on some of the overarching aspects of the Plan? Who gets final say?
The Plan will need to balance the needs and aspirations of local communities, the policies and capacities of government agencies, the findings of the Bushfire Royal Commission, and the views and requirements of different groups in the communities.
The Plan will put forward recommendations for consideration and feedback by all these groups. The final Plan is then approved by Murrindindi Shire Council and the Government.
